Heal N Soothe is likely to help give quick relief from Gout
The SP-HNS supplement is a proprietary formula designed to support joint health and may help the body in its innate ability to potentially reduce inflammation.

While specific details about SP-HNS are limited, supplements with similar formulations often include a blend of proteolytic enzymes and natural anti-inflammatory compounds.

For instance, products like Heal N Soothe combine proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain and papain with additional ingredients like turmeric and ginger that may help promote circulation and potentially help reduce inflammation.

Proteolytic Enzymes and Gout Management

Picture
Proteolytic enzymes are proteins that help break down other proteins into smaller peptides or amino acids.  They are found naturally in the body and in certain foods like pineapple (bromelain) and papaya (papain).

[ "Pacmen to the Rescue!!" : Papain: Derived from papaya, assists in protein digestion.
Bromelain: Extracted from pineapple, known for its anti-inflammatory properties.]

Potential Benefits for Gout:
Reducing Inflammation: Proteolytic Enzymes may help decrease inflammation associated with gout attacks.

Alleviating Pain: By modulating inflammatory pathways, these enzymes might reduce pain.

Improving Circulation:  Some proteolytic enzyme supplements aim to enhance circulation, which may aid in the recovery process.

Considerations:
Supplement Quality: The efficacy of proteolytic enzyme supplements can vary based on their formulation and bioavailability.

Medical Supervision: It's essential to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially for individuals with existing health conditions or those on medication.

Conclusion:
While proteolytic enzymes like those found in Systemic Proteolytic Heal N Soothe may offer supportive benefits for managing gout symptoms, they should not replace conventional treatments.  Always consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most appropriate plan for your specific needs.

Add in additional enzymes. Every time you eat! “Don’t Dine Without Zymes!!”
New Earth Enzymes is a plant-based digestive aid formulated to enhance nutrient absorption and alleviate post-meal discomfort.  While its primary purpose is to support digestion, certain components may offer benefits for individuals managing gout.
Each capsule contains a blend of 15 natural, plant-based enzymes, including:
Protease: Breaks down proteins
Amylase: Digests carhobydrates
Lipase: Aids in fat digestion
Peptidase:
An enzyme that breaks down proteins into smaller peptides or amino acids.
Pectinase: An enzyme that breaks down pectin, a structural polysaccharide in plant cell walls, helping to soften fruits and clarify juices.
The ingredient base is giving your stomach an assistant in breaking down plant fibers allowing your body to access vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants more efficiently.
Summary: Enzymes formula Enhances overall digestion – works synergistically with other enzymes to make plant-based foods easier to digest.
Additionally, the supplement includes organic Wild Microalgae, rich in phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids.

Proteolytic Enzymes and Gout Management

Proteolytic enzymes, such as bromelain and papain, have been studied for their potential to reduce inflammation and pain associated with conditions like gout.  Research indicates that oral use of proteolytic enzymes may offer benefits equivalent to those of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories in treating gout inflammation. Specifically, bromelain has been noted for its anti-inflammatory effects, which may help manage symptoms of conditions like osteoarthritis and sinusitis. (I keep it in my "Natural Medicine" cabinet as my go to Natural NSAID.) [NSAID stands for Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug. These are medications used to reduce inflammation, pain, and fever without using steroids. Common examples include ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin.]

Considerations: Before incorporating any new supplement, including proteolytic enzymes, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have existing health conditions or are on medication.

Complementary Approach: While proteolytic enzymes may offer supportive benefits, they should not replace conventional treatments for gout.

Eden Ume Plum Balls (UMEBOSHI)

Picture
Buy Ume Plum Balls

Umiboshi is a macrobiotic supplement of plum drops. It is very tart and very good for alkalizing. I use in addition to algae in some situations.

Umiboshi pills will help--in the macro section, very small balls, suck on 4=8 at a time. Very alkalizing without detox.
Please keep in mind....Individuals should have their entire diet reviewed to really deal with it, not just add a supplement.
It use to be a result mostly for alcoholics, but today, anyone who has gluten sensitivities, eats processed foods/dairy and drinks is likely to have this occur.
Lotus is a reputable brand in the macrobiotic and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) communities, known for its high-quality, traditionally prepared umeboshi products. These products are often recommended for their potential benefits in supporting digestive health and balancing acidity, which may be helpful for clients with gout.

Here are some Lotus umeboshi products you might consider:

1. Lotus Umeboshi Plum Paste
  • Description: A traditional Japanese condiment made from pickled ume plums and shiso leaves.
  • Usage: Can be used in cooking or as a seasoning for various dishes.
  • Benefits: Known for its sour and salty flavor, it may aid in digestion and help balance acidity in the body.

2. Lotus Umeboshi Vinegar
  • Description: A by-product of the umeboshi pickling process, this vinegar is aged to perfection.
  • Usage: Can be used in salad dressings, marinades, or as a tangy addition to various dishes.
  • Benefits: Offers a sharp flavor and is believed to have alkalizing properties, which may support overall health.

3. Lotus Umeboshi Pickled Plums
  • Description: Whole ume plums that have been pickled with salt and shiso leaves.
  • Usage: Traditionally eaten as a snack or used in rice balls (onigiri).
  • Benefits: The whole fruit provides dietary fiber and the benefits of the pickling process.

Considerations for Gout Clients:
  • Sodium Content: Umeboshi products are typically high in sodium due to the pickling process. It's important to monitor sodium intake, especially for clients with gout, as excessive sodium can exacerbate kidney function issues.
  • Alkalizing Effects: Despite their salty taste, umeboshi products are considered to have alkalizing effects on the body, which may help balance pH levels.
  • Digestive Support: The sour and salty nature of umeboshi may stimulate digestive enzymes and promote healthy digestion, potentially benefiting clients with gout.
Recommendation:
For a client with gout, starting with small amounts of Lotus Umeboshi Plum Paste or Umeboshi Vinegar can be beneficial. These products can be incorporated into meals to support digestion and balance acidity. However, it's crucial to monitor the client's overall sodium intake and adjust accordingly. As always, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before introducing new supplements or dietary changes.

Other than LOTUS brand, here are three Umeboshi / ume-based supplement options to consider as well:
  1. Mitoku Macrobiotic Kosher Traditional Umeboshi Paste (8.1 oz)
    • This is a paste form (purée) of umeboshi made from salted ume plums and red shiso leaves. koshervitamins.com
    • Pros: easier to dose (small amounts) and incorporate into foods or tonics; less “whole fruit” bulk.
    • Considerations: check salt/sodium content (umboshi are often very salty), and ensure the paste is produced by traditional fermentation (no artificial additives or rapid methods).
  2. Joseph’s Organic Umeboshi Fermented Pickled Plums (small ume variety, traditionally made)
    • These are whole fermented ume plums (small variety) with just three ingredients: ume plums, sea salt, and shiso leaves (per their product description). Joseph's Organic Bakery
    • Pros: “full spectrum” (fruit + fermentation matrix + naturally co-factors).
    • Cons: again, salt load; dosing is trickier; the pits must be removed; also bulkier and less “supplement style.”
    • Use: client might eat 1 plum (or less) daily as a complementary “dose,” or slice into condiments.
  3. Prunus mume / ume extract / fruit-juice concentrate polysaccharide supplement (standardized extract)
    • While I didn’t find a retail “umeboshi extract for gout” product in my searches right now, the research suggests that polysaccharide-rich ume fruit juice concentrate (PFC) has beneficial effects on uric acid excretion (in animal studies). PMC
    • So the ideal supplement would be a standardized ume extract or concentrate emphasizing polysaccharides (or acid components, whatever is active) with low sodium and minimal additives.
    • You might look for a Japanese herbal supplier or macrobiotic supplement line that offers an ume extract / ume concentrate capsule or liquid.

A message from Mushroom Mycologist Steve Farrar on Gout

Picture
Gout is a disorder of purine metabolism and, in general, recommendations for people suffering from gout include avoiding foods with a high content of purine. Although the purine content of medicinal mushroom species have not been fully characterized, mushrooms in general are considered to be a food with moderate amounts of purine, 50 to 150 milligrams per 100 grams fresh weight.
However, recent studies (http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa035700) have found dietary factors once believed to be associated with gout are, in fact, not, including the intake of purine-rich vegetables (e.g., beans, peas, lentils, and spinach) and total protein. Higher levels of meat and seafood consumption are associated with an increased risk of gout, whereas a higher level of consumption of dairy products is associated with a decreased risk. Moderate intake of purine-rich vegetables (and most probably mushrooms) or protein is not associated with an increased risk of worsening conditions of gout.

Theoretically, the anti-inflammatory and liver/kidney tonic properties of medicinal mushrooms would provide some supportive therapeutic benefits. Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is the species most often cited as being beneficial for gout. Alcohol extracts of Reishi seem to provide the most support for this specific condition. A medicinal mushroom extract would provide concentrated amounts of certain active ingredients present in the mushroom. Although a mushroom extract would probably not contain any purine if indeed purine is a trigger for gout, the extraction process does discard or destroy many other active ingredients and nutrients that may have a positive effect on the condition.

Cordyceps, Maitake, and Turkey Tail are other species that also have significant anti-inflammatory effects and support liver/kidney function.

We do not (OM Mushrooms) produce extracted products. We produce only full-spectrum, un-extracted medicinal mushroom products as a whole food nutritional and dietary supplements. Our products may provide support for gout condition but I would try with caution. There are several companies that produce Reishi extracts. If you decide on trying an extracted product, I would recommend only buying product that is produced and processed in the USA.

Hope this is helpful.

Best regards,
Steve Farrar

Additional Gout Treatment

Sauerkraut Gout Treatment

Sauerkraut is fermented cut raw cabbage.  Sauerkraut is easy to make at home, it is safe and  keeps well in the refrigerator.

The main strain of bacteria in Sauerkraut is Lactobacillus plantarum.  With Sauerkraut we do not have to add Lactobacillus plantarum, they are already naturally in the cabbage.
Lactobacillus plantarumis reported being anti-inflammatory, they help break down biogenic amines such as histamine, rather than producing them, as many other lactobacilli do.
But even more important, literature shows they Lower Uric Acid!  Eat every day about a hundred grams of Sauerkraut, without the Wurst of course.

Apple Cider Vinegar Gout Treatment

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar WITH THE MOTHER, contain lots of healthy beneficial ingredients;
• Minerals, (acetic acid)
• Bacteria
• Enzymes
But be careful, just like any other acid, it is an acid, and it lowers Urine pH, resulting in lesser efficient excreting of Uric Acid.

How can we take advantage of the good ingredients, without having the bad effects of the acid?  The solution is simple, convert the acids in the vinegar into salts.
How? By adding a teaspoon mineral mix to a soupspoon of the vinegar.  Doing so, we convert the acids; Acetic acid, Malic acid, into their salts, Acetate, and Malate.  Now we can drink a healthy alkalic drink, instead of an acidic one, and the urine pH will go up, increasing the excretion of Uric Acid.
A good way to enjoy the for Gout beneficial bacteria and enzymes of the Apple Cider Vinegar.
PineApple Vinegar Gout Treatment
In The Gout Clinic, we use beside Apple Cider Vinegar, Pineapple Vinegar.
Pineapple vinegar is a bomb of the enzyme bromelain.

Probiotic Gout Yogurt

Studies have shown that some of the above mentioned Gout Probiotic bacteria can be successfully added during the process of making yogurt and cheese.
During the process, the Probiotic Gout Bacteria multiply, and they survive for a few days when stored immediately after finishing the product in the refrigerator.

This, Low Fat, zero added sugar, Yogurt with Gout Probiotics, made from bovine Milk, has become our favorite home gout treatment.
Known Orotic Acid Advantages:
• Lowers De Novo biosynthesis of Uric Acid (Lowers Uric Acid)
• Improves excretion of Uric Acid (blocks Uric Acid re-absorption)
When made with the right pro-biotics:
• Lowers Uric Acid further
• Lowers Inflammation

Do not exaggerate.
Consume daily between 0.3 - 0.5 L, low Fat, Sugar-Free, Gout Probiotic Yogurt.

Eating daily yogurt is a pleasant and safe Home Gout Treatment.

Noni Juice as a  Gout Treatment

Fermented Noni Juice, Morinda citrifolia L., has been used for over 2000 years for its reputed health benefits, one of which is its therapeutic effects on gout.
The mechanisms, still remain to be elucidated, but for sure, diverse natural bioactive compounds, which include flavonoids, phenolics, tannin, coumarins, luteolin, apigenin, and specific bacteria and enzymes do play a major role.
Studies showed that Fermented Noni Juice:
• Inhibited xanthine oxidase (XO), comparable allopurinol
• Lowers painful inflammatory conditions

Fermented V8 Gout Treatment

Besides cabbage, lots of other vegetables become a good gout treatment after fermentation.
When we use a mix of vegetables, we get a greater variety of beneficial compounds, bacteria, and enzymes.

In the Gout Clinic, we use the following mix:
• Tomato
• Green Tomato
• Chili
• Carrot
• Celery
• Beet
• Parsley
• Onion
• Spinach
To make a delicious, spicy V8.

There are no scientific studies regarding the benefits for Gout,
but for sure they are huge.

Fermented Garlic

Research shows that fermented garlic with L. plantarum, may help improve liver functions significant, may help treat diabetes, and may help with obesity.
And important, the taste improves a lot, becoming fresh, a bit acidic, and a bit sweet.

Easy to make:
Fill a jar with the garlic cloves.
Pour brine and herbs over garlic cloves.
Allow fermenting for 3 to 4 weeks.
Store in the refrigerator.
The longer kept in cold storage the more delicious they get!

Aged Black Garlic

The real root cause of Gout and gout related conditions is often Endothelial Dysfunction.  Black Garlic is a strong anti-Oxidant, ten times stronger as normal garlic, and is reported to treat Endothelial Dysfunction, and as a result Liver, Kidney and Spleen. The perfect gout treatment.
Black Garlic is easy to make at home, a production cycle is 9 days.
Black Garlic is tasty and is easy on the digestive system, you can without any problems are side effects (no garlic stink) eat daily + 20 Black Garlic Cloves.

Consuming Black Garlic is a safe Home Gout Treatment.

Kombucha

IMPORTANT, USE THE RIGHT KOMBUCHA.
For Gout Patients, the Kombucha cannot have like many commercial brands rest sugar, otherwise instead of fighting inflammation, it may provoke inflammation. Secondly, when Kombucha is (very) acid, you need to add a mineral mix before consuming it (see our comment for Apple Cider Vinegar), otherwise Uric Acid Excreting capacity of the kidneys will decrease, due to an increase in urine pH. When consumed in larger amounts without mineral mix, reserve body minerals might be depleted, and acidosis may occur.

When taken into account these remarks, kombucha helps lowering sugar and purines in the human body, because kombucha cultures, (a mix of bacteria and yeast), require sugar and purine for their own metabolism. And as a result, it lowers Uric Acid and Inflammation.

Kombucha's metabolic products are water-soluble and discharged from the body via the bladder, we cannot store them, build up a reserve.

Make your Kombucha with Green Tea, to take advantage of the strong antioxidant properties of the green tea polyphenols, and with Rooibos Tea. The latter showed an important effect on the recovery of oxidative damage on fibroblast cell lines against oxidative stress, see literature. Such a Kombucha made with Green Tea and Rooibos Tea, helps in tackling the roots of Gout.

Besides the bacteria, Kombucha is also a source of essential minerals, amino acids (lysine), Vit-C, Vit-B, and beneficial enzymes.

Take three small glasses per day (morning, afternoon, evening).

Milk Gout Kefir & Water Gout Kefir

Similar to Kombucha, Kefir uses a mixture of Bacteria and Yeast, living together and protecting each other, as a starter, which is now in grain form.  Both Kefir varieties have different bacterial strains.  Milk Kefir bacteria consume lactose, Water Kefir bacteria consume sucrose and fructose.

By adding Uric Acid lowering and Anti-Inflammatory bacteria, see Gout Yogurt above, we can engineer the starter Kefir grains in order to make "Gout Kefirs" which are more effective managing gout.
